In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Gibbons of the Parish of Saint Pancras in the County of Middlesex Esquire being of sound mind and disposing memory and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following First and principally I commit my Soul to God hoping for a blessed Resurrection through the Merits and Mediation of my Saviour Jesus Christ my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried in the Parish Churchyard of St Mary Islington in the County of Middlesex as was my deceased Wife as may be and in the same manner as she was buried and as touching all such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give devise and dispose of the same in manner herein after mentioned (that is to say) Imprimio I give devise and bequeath to my Son Thomas Gibbons and his Heirs and Assigns for ever all my Freehold and Copyhold Estates whatsoever and wheresoever the same shall be that I shall be possessed of at the time of my decease Also I give to my said Son all my Leasehold Estates whatsoever and wheresoever the same shall be for and during the remainder of the Terms of their several and or respective Leases Also all my Money in the Stocks, plates, Jewells Furniture Debts due to me Rents arrears of Rents and all other my personal Estates that I shall be possessed of or intitled to at
Page 2 my decease subjecting my Freehold Estates to the payment of the following Legacies that is to say I give to Israel Gibbons and Guy Earl Warwick my Nephews One hundred pounds each to be paid to them in the following manner (that is to say) fifty pounds each one year after my decease and fifty pounds each two years after my decease Also I give to each of the children of the aforesaid Israel Gibbons namely Hannah Gibbons Ann Gibbons Mary Gibbons and Catherine Gibbons that is now born at this time fifty pounds each to be paid to them in manner following (that is to say) fifty pounds to each as She or they shall attain the Age of twenty one years and if any or either of them should die before that time the survivors to have her or their share Also I give and bequeath to Thomas Warwick and John Warwick to be paid to them or the survivor of them one hundred pounds each at the Age of twenty two years Also I give to my Nephew Thomas Gibbons Son of Lewis Gibbons three hundred pounds when he shall arrive at the Age of twenty two years and his board Cloathing and Educating until he arrives at the Age of Fourteen Years to be paid out of my Freehold Estates under the direction of my Son or his Executors and also to put him out Apprentice at the Expense of my Son and Cloathed by him or his Executors during his Apprenticeship and if either of the above Children should be convicted of Felony before he she or they has received their Legacy then such person or persons so convicted shall loose all benefit and advantage from this my Will Also my Will is that I further subject my Freehold Estates to the payment of one thousand pounds after the decease of my Son to Israel Gibbons Guy Earl Warwick and their Children now named as aforesaid and my Nephew Thomas Gibbons Son of Lewis Gibbons or the Survivors of them share and share alike (that is to say) one half one year after the decease of my Son and the other half two years after the decease of my Son but no one of them that is convicted of felony to receive any benefit but to go to his or her Sisters or Brother Also my Will is that John Warwick and Thomas Warwick each to be put out Apprentice when fourteen years of Age under the direction of my Son or his Executors and not more that twenty pounds Apprentice fee to be given with either of them Also the Expenses of their Schooling to be paid by my Son and to be Educated in such manner as he or his Executors shall think proper till each of them arrive at the Age of Fourteen years And Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my Son Thomas Gibbons whole and Sole Exor of this my last Will and Testament In Trust for the purposes before mentioned hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills at any time here before by me made In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Gibbons the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of paper set my hand and Seal the Sixth day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy three Thos Gibbons -- Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Gibbons as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in the presence of and at his request and in the sight and presence of each other Witnessed the same Jams -- Saml Coney -- George Dell
This Will was proved at London the Twenty second dayof November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine before the Worshipful Andrew Coltee Ducarel Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogarive Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Thomas Gibbons Esquire the Son of the deceased and sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased he having been first sworn duly to Administer |
