Within the ancestral relations of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley, there seems to lie

• the tale of a daring merchant adventurer,
• a mysterious death in Newgate Gaol
• a likely link with an intrigue in the House of Nell Gwynn.

The story touches all five continents, as members of the family voyaged abroad.

The amazing facts appear to have remained dormant, forgotten and untold until I chanced upon them whilst investigating my husband’s family history.
